2021 Spring/Summer League Registration Open

OGSA is excited to announce that registration for our 2021 Spring/Summer leagues is now open!  The registration process is mostly unchanged from previous years.  Individual players and teams are welcome to register in most age divisions.  Once the registration process is complete, OGSA personnel will assign individual players to teams of girls with similar skills and capabilities.  If you have preferences in this area, please communicate those preferences in the comment section of your registration, but keep in mind it’s not always possible to place a group of individual players in an upper league. It’s impossible for us to know individuals skill level, or how well the team will play together – most of the time the individual registration teams will be placed in the lowest level in their age group.

A detailed overview and description of OGSA’s Spring/Summer leagues are available on our League Overview page.

To begin the registration process, please click on the appropriate link below. Once you review the instructions, you will be provided appropriate links to complete your registration.

Thank you for your interest in and support of Olathe Girls Softball.  We look forward to a positive and rewarding year for the players, coaches and families of OGSA!

Spotlight Nominations

Let’s face it, OGSA would not exist if it wasn’t for the amazing players, coaches, umpires and volunteers we have had over the years. Starting this season we would love to share your stories about the people that are making a difference to those around them. The day will soon come when you wont be able to remember your career league record, stats or about a thousand other things that seemed really important at the time. What you will remember are those special times when someone went out of their way to help you, make you smile, give you confidence when you had none, pushed you to be better or just consistently showed you they cared. The best things we get from sports have nothing to do with sports! Please take a few minutes and nominate someone…help us give credit where credit is due!

COVID-19 Policy

In order to keep OGSA up and running in the present climate of Covid-19 we are in need of everyone’s cooperation each and every day/evening while at both of the OGSA complexes (151st and Lone Elm).

  • We have removed the bleachers to better allow spreading out of fans.
  • Bring your own chairs – this will allow for seating and social distancing.
  • Please take your chairs with you when you leave – they will be discarded if they are left.
  • Please utilize the foul line fences and the outfield fences for extra viewing areas to avoid congestion and to maintain social distancing.
  • Wear a protective mask when social distancing is not possible.
  • Always wear a protective mask when near the concession stand and bathroom areas.
  • The girls playing do not need to wear masks while playing
  • Coaches and Umpires need to wear masks when they are conferencing/appealing calls.

Updated League Rules

Our 2021 Spring/Summer League Rules have been updated and can be found here. We ask all coaches to have a good understanding of the rules (especially age specific rules) prior to starting league play in order to avoid unnecessary game delays. If you have questions about any of the rules please reach out to your age specific league commissioner. Commissioners contact information can be found here.

This is by no means a full list of every rule tweaked/modified but the main highlights are:

  • OGAA League Tie Breaker – In 12U, 14U, 16/18U and Premier Leagues, if at the end of the time limit the game is tied, one complete inning will be played using the USA Softball ITB rules. If at the end of that inning, it is still a tie, the score will be recorded as a tie.
  • 8U League Rule 7 – A batted ball which strikes the pitching machine or offensive coach will result in a dead ball and the batter will be awarded 1st base, and any runner on base will be awarded one base from the base they started at prior to the pitch.
  • 10U Player/Coach Pitch League Rule 1 – Games are 70 minutes long. Games are over if neither team can mathematically win the game after 70 minutes played. No inning may start after 70 minutes unless all players have not yet batted in the game.
  • 10U Player/Coach Pitch League Rule 11 – Stealing is allowed except for home if a girl pitcher throws the pitch. A runner may only advance one base per pitch on a steal even if there is an overthrow by the catcher on the steal. A runner can never advance to home on a steal. This means that if the catcher throws to second for a runner attempting to steal second, a runner from third may not advance home. A player attempting to steal home will have the liability to be out on a defensive play. Players who attempt to steal home and are not put out by the defensive team will be returned to 3rd base. Stealing rules override the one base on an overthrow rule. Runners may not advance home from 3rd base on a passed ball or overthrow to the pitcher. A player may only advance home from 3rd base on a fair hit ball, if forced by a walk or a batter hit-by-pitch. Base runners may not leave the base until the girl pitcher or coach pitcher releases the ball.
  • 10U USA “C” League Rule 2 – No dropped 3rd strikes, no infield fly rule.
  • 10U USA “C” League Rule 3 – No stealing home. This means that if the catcher throws to second for a runner attempting to steal second, a runner from third may not advance home. A player attempting to steal home will have the liability to be out on a defensive play. Players who attempt to steal home and are not put out by the defensive team will be returned to 3rd base. Runners may not advance home from 3rd base on a passed ball or overthrow to the pitcher. A player may only advance home from 3rd base on a fair hit ball, if forced by a walk or a batter hit-by-pitch.
