Spring/Summer League Overview

General Information:

  • In 2020 “The OGSA League” played its entire schedule during the COVID pandemic. OGSA worked closely with the City of Olathe and County Health Authorities to adhere to the precautions and guidelines that were in place. Sanitizing bleachers & dugouts, social distancing, masking and rotating game balls were some of the things OGSA did to make softball a Healthy sport in the Summer.
  • OGSA offers beginner and competitive leagues in all age groups.
  • All league games will be scheduled to be played on weeknights (Monday through Friday).
  • Exact schedules and evenings of play for each age group/league will not be known until registration is complete.  At that time the total number of teams in each league will be known and the scheduling process can begin.
  • OGSA is a member of USA Softball.  USA Rules form the foundation of OGSA Rules.
  • Age cut-off for all age groups is January 1st – exception requests can be submitted to the appropriate league commissioner for review. League commissioners contact information can be on our Staff page here.
  • Players in T-ball, 8U, 10U and 12U do not need to be a member of a team to register.  OGSA will form teams in those age groups.  OGSA will assist individual players in the 14U to 18U age groups to find a league team, but we don’t accept individual registrations for these age divisions.
  • Competitive/tournament teams hold tryouts for players; OGSA will not assign players to competitive teams from individual registrations.
  • Managers may form a team using the “team registration” or the “optional team registration” in the T-ball, 8U, 10U and 12U age groups.
    • “Team registration” are for teams that have a complete roster. OGSA will not add players to your team if you register this way. Coaches are responsible for uniforms and insurance under this option. Proof of insurance will need to be shown before you will be allowed to practice/play games.
    • “Optional team  registration” is for coaches that may need players added to their teams, or for coaches that don’t want to be in charge of insurance or uniforms. Insurance and team T-shirts are in the price of this registration. The fees will be split between 12 players (the individuals fee will be charge to any extra players about 12 added to the roster. If you don’t have 12 players on your roster, OGSA is allowed to add players to your team. If you do not want players added to your team, you need to register under “team registration”.
  • Managers may check out team equipment with a refundable deposit of $200 (assuming all of the equipment is returned on time and un-damaged).
  • All teams should register in the age division and level they wish to compete.
  • Teams can use any fields or batting cages on a first come/first serve basis through March 15th. Assigned time slots for team practices begin after March 15th, with one field and one batting cage time slot per week for 8U. Others will have 2 field nights available.
