League Registration FAQ

IMPORTANT: Many of your league registration questions can be quickly addressed by referring to the documentation on our website (under the League menu) , including the FAQ’s listed below. If you have further questions after consulting our documentation, please direct your inquiries to support@ogsa-ks.zendesk.com. Directly contacting an OGSA staff member with league registration questions might result in a delay receiving a timely response. This is because the above mentioned email is the only OGSA email that is monitored and tracked by multiple staff members.

What is the difference between Individual, Team and Optional Team registrations?

Individual Registration – This option is for players that are currently not on a team and would like OGSA to place the player on a team. The team the player is placed on will either be a new team comprised of individual registrations OR a team that registered using the Optional Team Registration option (see Optional Team Registration below). Insurance and team T-shirt are included in the price of this registration.

***Note that if you would prefer your player join an existing team you can search for teams seeking players under the Resources>Teams Looking For Players menu item on our website or click here. Another option is to post your contact information under the Resources>Players Looking For Teams menu item on our website or click here. OGSA offers these resources as tools to connect coaches and parents, OGSA does not mange this process. If you elect to go this route and join an existing team, team registration fees will apply.

Team Registration – This option is for teams that have a complete roster. OGSA will not add players to your team. Coaches are responsible for uniforms and insurance under this option. Proof of insurance will need to be shown before you will be allowed to practice/play games.

Optional Team Registration – This option is for coaches that may need OGSA to add players to their teams, or for coaches that don’t want to be in charge of insurance or uniforms. Insurance and team T-shirts are in the price of this registration. If you don’t have 12 players on your roster, OGSA is allowed to add players to your team. If you do not want players added to your team, you need to register under “team registration”.

What are the age cutoffs for each division?

A players age as of August 31st determines the age division at which the player is eligible to play for the upcoming season. Please reference our age eligibility chart to determine which age division your player is eligible for here.

Is insurance (team/individual) included in league fees?

It depends, insurance is only provided to players that registered using the Individual or Optional Team registration options. If your player was registered using the Team registration option, the team is responsible for providing the insurance. Team insurance can be purchased from USA Softball here

Are background checks and Safe Sport training required?

Yes, all OGSA Coaches/Managers (any adult that will be in the dugout or on the field) MUST successfully pass a background check and complete SafeSport training.

Are league t-shirts/uniforms included in league fees?

It depends, t-shirts are only provided to players that registered using the Individual or Optional Team registration options. If your player was registered using the Team registration option, the team is responsible for providing the uniforms.

Coaches and/or team managers can order uniforms using the following form/instructions located here.

What day(s) of the week will each age division play?

T-Ball – Any day of the week depending on how many teams register. OGSA has two T-Ball fields and they do not have lights. OGSA will try to have each team only play one game a week, but it’s possible that you may have to play two games due to the number of teams, rainouts, etc.

8U – Teams have historically been split into two divisions – one playing on Monday, with Wednesdays as overflow – the other group playing on Tuesday, with Thursday as overflow. Again, we won’t know which nights of the week the 8U league will take place until we see how many teams/individuals register.

10U A & B – This league has played on Thursday nights in the past.
10U C – This league has played on Tuesday nights in the past.
***Note that it is possible that the 10U A, B or C divisions will be combined/merged. We will try to keep them separated however it will ultimately depend on how many registrations we get in each division.
10U Player/Coach Pitch – This league has played on Monday nights in the past. We will try to stick with this, but if we have a lot of registrations for this division, we may need to add an overflow night.

12U A & B – This league has played on Wednesday nights in the past.
12U C – This league has played on Thursday nights in the past.
***Note that it is possible that the 12U A, B or C divisions will be combined/merged. We will try to keep them separated however it will ultimately depend on how many registrations we get in each division.

14U-16U All Divisions – This league has played on various days in the past, it ultimately depends on how many registrations we get in each division.
